Loosely modeled on the CBS TV show, The Amazing Race, the Pretty Darn Good Race is an exploration challenge race. The Race was created by father-daughter team "Racemeisters" Rich and Leslie Gallaher (later joined by Rich’s wife, Janie).
We are not professional race organizers. We do this for the fun of it, and to create a fun experience for the participants. We do not profit from it, and all of the entry fees are used for the race.
The Pretty Darn Good Race is a one-day race around the Puget Sound area in which 2-person teams search for clues that lead them to obscure places, fun activities and further clues. It is similar to a scavenger hunt, but as far as we can tell, it is different than any other races, such as scavenger hunts or the Urban Challenge. At each checkpoint, teams receive a clue to the next location. Teams don't know what the activities are, but they will have fun! The top 3 teams with the shortest overall times win prizes.
The First EVER Pretty Darn Good Race was held on August 1, 2004.
